Hi,

I am flooring a bathroom and would like to have a wooden, engineered or laminate floor.

I know there are 'moisture resistant' laminates but are they really necessary or just a marketing trick?

Obviously, I would want the best finish possible so if i can use a decent engineered wood or a sealed hardwood then that would be great.

I'm pretty sure its one of those 'we wouldnt suggest it but you can do it' situations, which means no suppliers want to suggest what would be the best option. Therefore, if any of you have any advice that would be great.

thanks

Tiling is an option, but it's a big room (ceiling height 25ft) so was looking for a warmer more natural floor. I've seen wooden floors in bathrooms so I'm pretty sure it's possible...

It's possible, specially with wood-engineered boards. But that does not mean it is recommended ;)

Too often drips and spillages (tooth paste, children splashing around in the bath) will cause stains (also due to lime-scale in the water and not cleaning spillages as soon as possible) and more risk of expansion

Wether the product claims it's ok or not, I would avoid laminate or engineered for bathrooms, alternative wod effect flooring that is suitable would be Sheet vinyl or Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT)
