Wood front door needs weatherproofing

I have a wooden front door we inherited with the house we purchased. When it rains hard we get a pool of water. Water also trickles down the door and looks water damaged in the panels looking at the door from the inside.

The current paint on the door looks very thin and poorly applied plus there are several gaps in the wood that appear to be open to letting water in.

So, my plan is to sand down the door, fill in some of the gaps in the wood where the rain comes through, then get a decent weatherproof undercoat and re-paint the door.

I bought some polyfilla wood stuff for external wood so hopefully that will be ok. The paint we want to use eventually is Farrow & Ball. So my question is:

A) does this sound like an ok plan?
B) what is a good weather proof undercoat to use? Should I go for the F&B one? Or should I go for an alternative like Dulux Weathershield?

Anyone have any experience or advice to share?

Any good exterior woodwork paint and a matching under coat, will do your door ok. also check the letterbox (if it has one fitted) they can leak and cause all sorts of problems...pinenot :)
