Don’t know the correct terminology for this so will try to explain. If you look at a piece of wood left to right the colour shade looks dark turn the piece around so you now effectively looking right to left the colour shade looks light. For example made some wood coasters and veneered the edges with one continuous strip. If you look at the join you can clearly see a large colour shade difference as your looking in two different directions at the same time. If you actually spin the coaster at certain places the grain actually appears to glow.
Think this is normal and when it happens evenly over a whole panel it not really a problem. However on some pieces of veneer this is appearing across the grain, rather than in line with the grain, and sometimes as random islands at random places. This really looks a mess and makes the wood look stained and dirty. It is slightly noticeable before being waxed but becomes very pronounced after being waxed.
Is there anything I can do to eliminate this or at least reduce it to acceptable limits.
