Wood Stain or Paint for exterior Plywood Veneer Door ?

I intended to apply a One Coat type exterior satin wood paint.

Although, because the garage side door faces strong sun light all day; it’s been suggested I should use a white wood stain ?

The door is supplied un-primed.
