hi!

I have a Victorian garden roller that lost its lovely turned wooden handle years ago and has since had a short section of scaffold pole for a handle.

I’d like to reinstate the wooden handle but don’t have access to a lathe.

Is there anyone that would be willing to turn me a handle for it? (I have an image of a design I’m after)

Cost of your time and material would be covered for your help.

Thanks,

Simon.

coopersim, good evening.

Yes I have a lathe but sorry I am not yet proficient enough to assist in your quest.

But? There is a small wood supply shop, in a Town near where I live that sells specialised woods from all over the place, this shop also sells Lathes and wood working tools and materials, including some very specific wood working tools, generally not available in the main "Timber Suppliers" or trade outlets these tools are simply too niche market to be found in major outlets.

Now to get to the point, regular "patrons" of this shop tend to be dyed in the wool machine turning aficionados.

So what? I would suggest that you have a look in the area where you reside, locate a shop that sells lathes and wood turning machines, I have a funny feeling that such tiny outlets will all have a network of artisans who will possibly be able to assist??

Just a consideration.

Ken.

Thanks I did try the berkshire wood turners none of their members were interested.

I’m happy to pay postage Gerry if you’re willing to help?

Thanks

Simon

That surprises me. Can you give me a better idea of size? The current bar is definitely removable, and not a spigot for two wooden handles to slide onto?

thanks Gerry and apologies for the typo on the previous message. The handle is solid and held in place with a single screw. The handle I had in mind is about 45cm from memory but I don’t have the drawing to hand right now
