Hi we have just brought a wooden floor and need some help please.
First question id the flooring comes in 5m lengths, the shop we brought it from don't deliver how do we know where to cut it so that its not in loads of bits when we get it home.

Second is what does it mean to secret nail it as we have ply on the floor already and we have been told not to glue it we do not need to. :?:

the wood is unfinished 2 strip finger joint oak.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my questions

heeelllooo and welcome aclaim1969 :D :D :D

do not cut it off site if you can help it find somebody that can carry it

then the only way to be economical is to do a floor plan work out where the offcut from the first plan will fit in best then start the second length where the first length left off ect leaving a couple of inches spare where possible unless the planks are accurate and machine cut
so you can see theres no good way to cut off site
if you do cut off site yo need to mark the planks in order off laying [1 to 60]!

blind nailing is into the the top of the tounge at around 45 degrees into the corner avoiding the last/first 75mm

I think it would be a good idea to get the flooring delivered.
I kinda understand about where to nail, apart from the 75mm! does that pretty much mean you have to nail in the centre of every plank?

Also when these lengths turn up they are going to be in 5m lengths my room is 12` x 14` , Do I cut the blank to the size of the room and whats left over use at the start of the next row ect

Example: If the bit i`m cutting is 14` there would be just over 2` left over do i start the next row with the 2` and then cut the next 5m length 12` and carry it on like that.

Thank you for helping

sorry not clear

you nail into the "step" on top off the tounge
you avoid the last 75mm so you dont break the end off the tounge off

yes you use the offcut as long as the joints keeps moving and dont form a patern of joints in line less than 3 or 4 planks apart

Hi
Will I need to to put anything under the flooring if i have ply down already.

I see you can buy the nail gun for around 150 can you hire these?

Thank you
