Hi there,

I'm looking for some advice on the best way to remove a cat flap and patch the hole in a wooden front door. I don't want to replace the door as we will be adding a porch in the future.

Image should be attached, please let me know your thoughts/suggestions?

Kind Regards,
Derek

assuming the frame off the door is untouched
you will need to remove the molding on the back off the panel probably with a router to release the panel
the depth and position off the cut will be decided by your chosen replacement molding
now the problems start
do you use a plain flat bit off ply or spend hours trying to replicate the raized panel with added timber you have to shape

I don't think you'll get the panel out of the door.

Take off the cat flap and see how big the hole behind it. If the bevels at the edge of the panel are intact, you might get away with tidying up the hole if necessary, glueing in a repair piece and making good with two-part filler
