hELLO ALL,

I HAVE THE ABOVE BOILER WHICH IS 2 YEARS OLD BUT IT DOESN'T WORK! THE IGNITION PROCESS WORKS, THE FAN RUNS BUT THE BURNER WILL ONLY STAY LIT FOR 5 SECONDS OR LESS THIS IS WITH BOTH C/H AND H/W SET TO CONSTANT IT IS THE SAME IN ANY SETTING.

THE ONLY FAULT I CAN SEE IS THERE IS SLIGHT BROWNING ON PART OF THE PCB BUT NO BREAKS IN THE SOLDER. THIS HAPPENED TWO WEEKS AGO AND AFTER ALOT OF HEADSCRATCHING AND FIDDLING IT SORTED ITSELF OUT, TODAY IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN.

ANY IDEAS?

You say its two years old!

Did you have it serviced at the end of the first year?

try changing the flame sensor

NO SERVICE WAS DONE, TO BE FAIR I DIDN'T REALISE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN.

I WILL TRY THE FLAME SENSOR, THANK YOU BOTH

The manufacturers instructions will tell you that you should get it serviced annually. It might even have had a two year guaranty if it had been serviced!

BOB should not be telling you to change any flame thing unless you are CORGI registered as its part of the safety devices.

was the right side neon flashing.if so its lockout.
most probaly pcb.changed many pcb's on the cbi range of boilers, some components overheat on pcb, causing a burned area.
gas valves can also stick like any boiler.
check ignition electrode is over the center of a burner bar.
check flame sensor electrode is the same and all clean.

parts i have changed on these boilers.
pcb 90%
gas valve 20%
heat exchangers 15% they leak water on to sensing electrode on dirty water systems.

TIP.get worcester to repair it seems expensive but its all inclusive and you get an expert.

I have checked the flame sensor, replaced the pressure switch but still nothing, looks like i will have to change the board, any ideas of a cost effective place to purchase one?
Maybe an idea of what I should pay if possible?

Thanks

Before you change the pcb change the flame senser lead ,it often sits too close to the burner and sufers allso reverse poarity will give the same fault but only if someone has been working on the mains prior to the fault. No min gas pressure adjustment on the gas valve but does the flame pattern look ok when its lit.
