i was having a shower this morning and the water went cold.

there is no ignition and the fan is not working either . the overheat cut off button has not popped up.

any ideas anyone?

thanks

well i turned the hot water tap on just to see what happens exactly and after a bit of noise the fan (which was always noisy) burst into life and the boiler ignited.

so maybe it is going to be an intermittent problem to go along with the one that has developed in my car

You need a new fan, sounds like it's been on it's way out for a while. The boiler won't ignite if the fan siezes. As for the car, you'll have to take that to the garage.

thanks for the reply.

actually the boiler is about 5 years old and the fan has always made the same noise ever since day 1.

These are one of the quietest boilers around!

It still sounds like the fan, but to prove it you need to check that you have 240 volts across the fan terminals next time it stops. If it's getting voltage and won't run it's kaput, if there is no voltage there it could be a number of things.

I keep finding dud APS's not giving a clear "off" signal, so the boiler does nothing much.

If fan has been noisy since day one, one would wonder why it hasn't beem called in to Worcester whilst under warranty. All new boilers run quite quietly. I always tell my customers that if anything sounds different to the day I commission it then call me back

If I had the slightest doubt about anything on a new install I would call it in straight away

Got to agree with Rob, very quiet boiler.

Also with ChrisR, If fan bearing is Kn**kered then APS will be intermitent.

i did question the noise. his firm did work for my firm and i thought he was ok. it's the first boiler i've ever had (had it installed the day i moved into the flat). corgi bloke said it was ok, it just runs a bit noisy. haven't had any probs with it in 5 years until yesterday morn.

appreciate yr comments anyway

As said before, it should have been silent from day 1  I can't understand why installers have a problem calling in manufacturers if there is any doubt about a faulty part  It doesn't cost them anything :?

If you fit the same make of boiler all the time then you will now its ways and noises inside out
