Worcester 28i and wind

Since Christmas 2013 our boiler has failed to fire on several occasions. Normally as good as gold, is annually serviced, has new PCB, gas valve, fan, air valve and air tubes. Air flow is clear. Do not believe this unit has a pilot light.

Loft mounted, balanced flue facing West, wind predominantly from the SWest. Engineer has been out severall times but is at a bit of a loss.

Last night very high wind and the boiler failed this morning, then started again without intervention, this has happened before about three weeks ago.

Is there a relationship between the wind and the boiler operation please? Seen a few posts about lock outs and resets but.......

Any advice welcomed please

Extremely unlikely that wind would affect a fan flued room sealed boiler. Does this happen at regular times? It might be worth getting your gas supply checked out, especially the meter governor. This can only be done by a qualified person. I have had many occasions where a sticking meter governor has caused random lockouts. Transco will fit a new one if that is the case.

The only regular occurrence is the very high wind, been absolutely fine for years - the gas fire in the lounge operates fine thankfully - the water pressure is stable and as I say, it has restarted by itself twice now

Well as you say that it suggests to me that it has been subject to high winds in the past and not been a problem, so you can probably rule out the wind.
Why not get the pressures at the meter and ALL the operating pressures of the boiler, especially during ignition checked and adjusted as required. I cannot say any more than that, but a pro would know what I mean.
A sticking gas valve may also cause random lockouts.

The winds since Christmas have been exceptionally high which made me consider it as the cause, perhaps a safety feature if the air pressure were above a prescribed level which would overcome the flue and prevent escape of emissions.

There are quite a few similar instances reported but they have not been resolved really.
