OH dear, this is stuff of the frying pan and the fire.

First thing we have to advise is that you turn off the gas to the boiler. You shouldn't try changing gas parts yourself, because you could easily leave it dangerous to you or to the boiler.

You need someone who is competent to repair boilers, and not a general plumber. I don't suppose the fault is one which would take such a chap more than a few minutes to diagnose. It should have been all over by now, you wouldn't have a dangerous boiler and you wouldn't have bought two major unnecessary parts.

Your description is ambiguous:
when you 1st turn on the power to the boiler it waits a few seconds and the fault light comes on when you reset it (pressing it for 5 seconds) then the boiler seems to come to life but still no heat.
I don't know what you mean.
Does the fault light come on before you reset it or after - that isn't clear from what you wrote.
What on earth does, "seems to come to life", mean?

You have saved yourself a small fortune... In gas. If you throw enough parts at the boiler, you will get lucky sooner or later.

I can only agree with what Chris has said.... Pay for an engineer who is competent and confident with combis.

thanks for the advice

Ive finally managed to get hold of the plumber that fitted the boiler and he will come around tonight and have a look.

I am just going out to replace a PCB but for most plumbers they are probably safely at home.

So what did he say ???

Tony
