Worcester Bosch combi - no hotwater or CH

I'm posting on behalf of my grandparents who are currently without their combi working, they have contacted their RGI who fitted a few months ago and are awaiting a call back.

Unfortunately I don't have the model number as I have only spoke to them over the phone (I can't get down to them to see). Apparently the lights are flashing on the front and they have no h/w or c/h.

From what I have read there is a reset button on the front of the combi, would removing and reconnecting the power also reset any fault or would the fault reset button still be required? (The combi is in the loft and they can remove power from below, but getting over to it is more troublesome).

Could a frozen and backed up condensate cause this to happen?

Fishing in the dark a little, but I'm just trying to help from afar.

My own understanding is that a frozen condensate pipe can cause a modern combi boiler to shut itself off.

If you Google "combi boiler frozen water pipe" you will find more info.

Could be a frozen condensate, there's been a lot this year. I don't understand why they can't get to it to reset it though, it's a fitting requirement to have good access to boilers in lofts, which means a properly fitted loft ladder, walk boards screwed to the joists all the way to the boiler and an adequate boarded working area around the boiler itself. If this wasn't done then the installer's missed a vital part of the installation.

Resetting is unlikely to solve the problem, frozen condensate is first suspect.

Its not part of the gas regs but I think it should be!

If I fit a boiler in the loft I also put a gas isolation valve and power isolator in the airing cupboard.

Thanks for your replies, they could get to
the boiler as it is boarded, but if they can achieve the same from the power switch downstairs I thought it would save them climbing up. So
just for reference would switching off/on have the same affect as the reset button?

Is it normal practice to lag the condensate pipe run in the loft?
