I wonder if anybody could help me.
I have the above mentioned boiler that is overheating when running hot water, but is normally OK when just running the central heating, although it has cut out a few times on just CH.
The boiler sounds like it is boiling the water and sending it up the expansion pipe to the tank in the loft, the boiler then cuts out and we have to wait for it to cool before I can relight the pilot light again.
Any ideas would be appreciated on this one as would a copy of the parts manual and a recommended parts supplier.
I hope you can be of help as the wife is getting fed up with it and we all know how painful that can be!

I was hoping to make it last until the summer, move a couple of rads and get a new boiler but it sounds like its the heat exchanger or the pump, neither of which can be tested without trying the replacement item, not worth the expense on such an old boiler.
Oh well thanks for your help anyway.
Is it dangerous to use? Can we limp through until I have time to move the rads as part of the planned redecorating?

More inconvenient than dangerous but things aren't likely to improve so the sooner you change it the better.
