Word Association

Bored? no, I'm being asked to explain something not of my doing, by Tim who comitted the crime

we were going along fine with Carnoustie- links- chain- cable, then car appeared, please explain the word association between cable and car? that to me is a link
Cable car as in the one that goes up mountains on a cable :D

see here halfway down page

Cable Car

Yes I had thought of that, but discounted it, cable car in the same sentance would work, but as a single word, car is a link, according to the rules single words only.

Wotan

I dont understand the rules then as I thought that would be ok, I dont understand what you mean by link? Its word association so it should fit shouldnt it?

cable

car attached to cable as in a cable car

confused now

To me Tim, cable and car, would be a link, same as cable and ship would be.
Association, cable and say, length would be acceptable, as these form an association.

I'm willing to phone a friend...Blasphemous, and will abide by his decision.

I see what you are saying but disagree that cable and car cant go together its another take on cable as far as i see and if not allowed then many answers back could also be invalid.
Agreed Blas should be the ref as always

just reread your post, are you saying cable car is one word as in cablecar or cable-car?

sorry to others waiting to contribute as we sort out our little problem

I agree that there have been many instances in the past when joey words have been used, but if we were to have a discussion like this every time the game would stall badly.
Possibly we do need clarification of the rules from time to time to help new comers.
Will wait for a adjudication from Blas....

The correct spelling is cable car, not cablecar or cable-car.
but after car, one could argue that red green white blue silver black or whatever would be ok too, as cars do come in these colours

Understood I can see that just stating a colour afterwards would be disallowed but a cable car is an actual object not a style.

nelsy there's a bit of a dispute going on at the mo :D dont know if shades fits in just now
