you need a 1/2 inch router a specialist worktop cutter and around a 30mm guide
so before you bid have you the correct bits and router ??

Hi BA - all the British-made ones are the same, 1/2in cutter x 50mm long and 30mm guide bush (which is what every 1/2in router on the market comes with). The one exception I know of is Festool - being German thay have to be different

ive got the wrong router its a bosch 1/4 ,so no collar .So me thinks best hire one for the day of HSS

You need a 1/2in shank plunge router with 1750 to 2000 watts to successfully tackle worktop joints. It can be done with smaller 1/2in routers, but is takes many more passes so I don't think it's work the aggro. If you hire a DeWalt, Makita of Bosch the hire shop should supply it with a 30mm guide bush, but ask to make sure that they will (and avoid hire shops who can't be arrissed!)

Yes i will make sure i get the collar and i need a new cutter oh and a bacon sandwich thanks for all byour help

remember maximum 1/2 cutter shaft depth off cuts so 40mm will require 7 passes

if you have a quality jigsaw that you know will cut strait
cut within 5mm off the line then you can do it in 3 passes
