hi,
i have recently cut some kitchen worktop. I sealed the edges with clear varnish, in the hope of preventing water from getting in.

Its supposed to take 6 hours to dry - and it did when i used it before. However, its been "tacky" for 3 days now. why isnt it drying?

Would PVA glue do a better/similar/worse job?

It takes 6h if it's thinly spread, as it's supposed to be used. If you got a thick layer of varnish it can take days...

Anyhow, I'm not so sure it's a great idea to use it as a sealant. The worktop I presume is wooden? In that case it needs to be able to move a little bit, so you really use a flexible waterproof seal. A silicon based one would do nicely!
:)
