Hi everyone,

We're planning to get our house repointed this year and as a result we've got some quotes in.

One of the quotes includes an item 'applying Siloxane water repellent'. This was included purely as a result of a passing comment I made when he visited to measure up that I had in the past thought of applying some kind of water repellent to the brickwork and what did he think of it.

I'm just wondering if anyone thinks it sensible/justified to apply this Siloxane water repellent? I asked if it comes with any kind of manufacturers warrantee and was told it didn't, so I'm not sure I see the sense behind using it.
We've never suffered from any kind of damp penetration in the house, but is this a worthwhile precaution to employ?

All information and advice is gratefully received.

Tony.
