Hi,
I am planning to remove a gas flue box and brick up the opening (single brick wall downstairs, but a chimney on first floor and in loft). I plan to remove the box and the rough filled bricks around the box.

I was planning to put a prop either side with a needle at approximately where the cross is on the first picture (1 metre above the floor) , and then just brick up the hole.

The flue box is 350mm deep, so with props on 1 metre centres I should have enough room to maneuver the box out.

Would you use a prop in this situation?

Thanks. So you don't think that the gas flue box could be providing any meaningful amount of support, that would need to be compensated for?
