With reference to the attached picture, I need to fit a shower tray (on riser kit) into a three sided recess. My question relates to whether I cut the wall boards (XPS) tight to the floor and ceiling, or whether I leave a gap underneath e.g. 10mm?
I imagine that fitting the boards tight to the floor and ceiling will be problematic as the building moves? But if I leave a gap to the floor, which I guess is the way to go, then there is a hole for the passage of water to get through. If the latter is the way forward, should I attempt to seal the gap with something like flashing tape?
Note that the wood that is currently seen, is only a temporary piece but is there to be used as a template.

TIA
