Hi, just moved house, and in the middle of putting up a new alarm, same as I had before Yale 6400, however the control panel light only comes on when you press a button, and goes out after a few seconds or so, unlike my previous system which was exactly the same and stayed on permenantly as it should, to help you see it when disarming in the dark, am I forgetting to Set something or what,

Incidentally when you first set it all up it the instructions say to remove rubber grommet behind panel and throw backup battery position to on, however mine was already set to on, this is a brand new unit, do you think the battery needs to charge up as i thought the light shoul come on when connected to mains.

Sounds like the battery or the power supply, did you buy it locally ?

Only bought it yesterday, local, there's power getting to it as I've set everything else up ok, oops one more thing my front door contact ( entry/exit ) goes sets alarm off instantly, I know it should be set to some mode but can't remember

read the instructions again, I have an idea you can set the display light to stay on or go off. Probably in "Program" "Advanced settings"

It always goes off when you are running on the standby battery.

The battery takes about 30 hours to charge from flat and maintains for about 7 hours in a power cut.

I'm wondering if the back up battery in control panel could be damaged, as it was set to on position when I took rubber grommet off

Thanks!!!!! Just went into adv settings, n there it was, light off or on, nothing in the insructions about it , thanks again.

Do you know how I set the front door as entry exit as it goes off the instant you open it ( contact )

just set your dour contact via devices - edit devices - (choose the door contact that is at your front door) then change the setting to 'entry' instead of burglar..

important keep using the enter key to work through this menu to the end. If you backspace out any changes you have made won't stick.

Thanks everyone, finished set up, everything seems to be working, added a set of comfort lights on alarm box, well anything as long as it acts as a deterent.
