Yet another mass school shooting in US.........

You'd be surprised.even the dead kids parents often say they want gun "reforms", NOT a ban.
Reforms, ban, call it what you like, criminals or anyone intent to do harm will get a gun regardless, if not a gun then something else knife, hammer, acid car/truck, whatever, they will still do harm. The way to tackle it is a real deterrent , such as a meaningful sentence , not just community orders, if caught with a knife, gun, acid etc without having a legitimate cause to carry it, and real life sentences for murder/attempted murder/ acid attacks. Unfortunately ,to many of today's younger generation, these sentences will be seen as a goal, not gaol.

Agree that the sentencing here is a joke, the justice system seems to be heavily weighed in favour of crimimals.

In terms of guns, in the US a 17 year old in some parts can walk into a gun shop and buy a military grade machine gun. Now that is bonkers. When you have easy access to guns, you will gets massacres on a regular. An angry mentally disturbed male in britain can get a knife and at worst stab 2 or 3 people in a shopping centre before being overpowered. Now imagine that same guy was able to easily get his hands an automatic military grade assault rifle and the carnage he could cause.

This is why we in the UK will never tolerate guns.

whilst no guns is the only possible end goal, the issue in the US is that the genie is out of the bottle -how do do get 393 million guns away from people?

133million guns owned by 3% of population

its not easy.

impossible with a powerful gun lobby

this is the most upto date stats on gun violence in the USA, its sobering really:

https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/

here is a list of the people killed / injured. The first 3 pages are for the 9th May 2019
9 people shot dead on 9th may.......

Ban the sale of ammunition to the public? Doesn't prevent you owning a gun.

in theory that might work,

but the reality is that criminals do not adhere to "Bans"

That is a commonly cited argument against banning guns.

Strict gun control removes the easy access of guns. The average opportunist or career criminal that robs cars or does low level cocaine dealing doesnt have a gun in this country.

Good idea, since we banned hand guns, no one has been shot here.

No, you're wrong there.

But the numbers of gun deaths in the UK are miniscule compared to countries where guns are freely available.

"lots of deaths" are worse than "very few deaths"
