Hi guys
I want to lay some karndean(sp) in the ensuite.
the floor is chipboard and is very level (house only 4 years old)
The flooring guy i spoke to said it needed 6mm marine ply fitted first.

my two questions are:

is 6mm sufficient?
is there an alternative to (expensive) marine ply

many many thanks

Andy

6mm. ply will be sufficient but you can use wbp or exterior grade ply which will be less expensive.
Make sure you fix down with ring shank nails or diverging staples and then go over with feather finish.

Feather finish is a screed spread very thinly over the ply to fill any small deviations eg. slight gaps between the ply boards/ nails hammered in below the surface.

Karndean supply this - though one of their containers will be more than enough for your needs.
