Zafira 1.6 - Attempting to drain the oil help needed please!

Wonder if anyone can help a newbie damsel in distress!

I am attempting to drain the oil in my car (Zafira 1.6 Comfort X reg) as I put rather too much in...but cant budge the nut...to make things worse I cannot figure which way to turn the nut as I think I am tightening it!

Anybody know which way to turn it please?

Turn it in an anti-clockwise direction. If it has the T45 torx plug they can be very tight, you need to make sure you get the T45 bit fully in so that it gets a good grip.

Get the engine hot, and turn the drain plug a 1/4 turn anticlockwise, just to break the seal.
When the engine is cold you will then be able to remove the sump plug easily.
If you can, leave the oil to drain over night.

DO NOT REMOVE the sump plug when the engine is hot, hot oil not only burns, but it sticks to you and keeps on burning.......
Also be careful when getting under the car, the sump/exhaust etc. will be very hot.

Don't drain the oil when it's cold, it comes out better when it's warm. No need to leave it over night either, an hour will be more than enough.
