Please help

My washing machine seems to have died. I believe it is an electrical issue as there has been absolutely no issue up until now, but when i switch it on now the pilot light comes on, but none of the operating lights come on, and the machine does not start.

I have opened it at the top to have a look in, and there does not seem to be any obvious problems, all wires are securely connected, and nothing seems burned out.

Is there any further action to take, as it's not my machine and i don't have the money to have someone round to fix it - and I'm really, really not in the mood to wash my clothes in the bath.

Are you sure the door is closed properly?

Yes the door is completely closed, but I'll check tomorrow if there are any disconnected wires at the door,

To anybody interested that might have a similar problem - I opened the top of the washing machine, and unscrewed the door lock mechanism - re-fastened all the wire connections and put it back together again - and what do you know - IT WORKS - no clothes washing in the bath for me.

I think your door interlock switch may well be on it's way out & that the problem will recur, in which case you will need to replace the door lock assy.
