Have a Zanussi ZBB28441SA Fridge Freezer. 10 Years old nearly. Issue is the fridge isn't getting cold enough, temp is between 5 -7 degrees C depending on the part of the Fridge I've put the thermometer. That's after 12 hours of the fridge being closed and not used. Thermostat is on full. Freezer part seems OK. Seals seem OK and nothing else obviously wrong.

Question is this. Is it worth replacing the thermostat, or getting a repair done, or am I likely throwing good money after bad for a 10 year old fridge? Any views would be welcome.

Does the compressor run and if so, how often?
Yes it’s running. I’d say it’s turning off about the time it reaches 5 but it’s fairly quiet so difficult to tell. Perhaps it’s a thermostat issue. Having said that it does seem to take an age to re-cool after being open. Got a couple of wireless thermometers in it at the moment so can monitor it without having to open it.

Have you checked the back of the freezer isn't frozen solid? Normally you can take the back panel off (inside the freezer compartment) to check and/or give it a proper 48 hour defrost. Once it gets frozen up the airflow becomes restricted/stops and the fridge no longer gets cold.

White goods generally have a shelf life of 7-10 years. If the thermostat is cheap enough may be worth a try. Is the fridge rammed with stuff or can the cold air circulate, defrosted, air space at the back?

Is there a build up of frost or ice? Have you defrosted it? Is the drain hole clear?

I thought 5 degrees was the standard.

I agree with this I replaced a much older stat on just a fridge and that lasted another 6 years until last year, my problem was it was randomly not shutting off so things were freezing.
