Thought we were REALLY clever today by fixing the broken door lock on our nexus washing machine and it works fine now-apart from the fact that the dial and the wash cycle letters on the dial seem to be completely out of synch.
We attempted to take the panel off in front of the dial in order to make access to the lock easier-but this seems to have caused more problems.
The dial that has the letters on does not move around with the wash-you can now push this dial nearly all the way around(ie it doesn't indicate at what stage we are in the wash)

Before we strip down the washing machine front again-can anyone tell us what we have done(apart from mucked up big style!!)
.....thanks for any advice anyone can give!!??

i have no idea about your particualr m/c but it sounds like you have put the knob on in the wrong position.

All i can suggest is yo put it onto fill, and put the knob back there, but your m/c will have more than 1 fill so it may be a few attempts before you get it right

You should see a small hole with a plastic pip in it on the front of the centre timer knob. Use a tiny screwdriver to hold this pip depressed whilst rotating the knob anticlockwise. This will release the knob. You will now see an inner knob, held on with a nut, this also needs to be removed. Now you will see a larger, cam shaped disc with a red plastic ring clipped to it. There are 2 tenons on the indicator bit that need to engage in slots in the red ring. It only fits one way since the tenons are different thicknesses.
