Zanussi Nexus w/m not spinning

Any ideas or help with the following would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Zanussi Nexus FL-1084 mashing machine which I estimate is about 5 years old, having been bought from a friend. For some unknown reason, it has stopped spinning. All other functions work as expected, and the drum rotates freely.

Any ideas on what could be the cause of the problem, and ways to resolve it?
