Zanussi ZKG5540XFN breather

Hi this is my first post, I have a Zanussi ZKG5540XFN cooker & the grill works for 5 minutes then goes off on its own, the last cooker I had a similar problem & I was told there was a breather which had become blocked, the engineer poked a wire around the back & I never had the problem again, is this the same thing or is there another cause. The manual had nothing of any help.
