Hi All,
I live in lovely Scotland, and we have a cottage with Welsh Slate roof. All the ridging is end of life and I am going to replace it. It is currently clout nailed in position.

Problem is we are in a very exposed area and get some very strong wind. The nails have worked out and the holes enlarged letting water in etc.

Is it OK to screw new ones down rather than nail? Was thinking if using the roof self tapping screws with the rubber washer on to seal as it goes in.

Cheers

Thank you, hopefully will hold things down better, I see you get strips to do with the lengths of capping, do I use one of these on each join? Again most of these straps on the current roof have broken with the wind pulling at the capping.
