We all know what’s happening in the world currently with Israel & Palestine war. But , do we know the root cause of it ?
It is important to have a political opinion & If you are blindly supporting something without being aware of the situation, then you become another sheep in the herd.
Perception is key! But where are we deceiving our perspectives from. If it is with random posts on Instagram & twitter which does not cite the history , only projects one sided opinion, if you happen to believe it without knowing the history & politics of the situation, then you are a part of the problem.
So I pen this article to summarise the issue understanding the root cause of it.
Religious background : Jerusalem
Jerusalem is believed to be a holy place, not just by one religion but by three , in Islam it is believed that prophet Mohammed departed to heaven from this holy place & the same has been cited in Quran. The Christian’s believe that Jesus spent most of his adulthood in this holy city & Jerusalem has been mentioned over 800 times in the Bible. But In Judaism , the religion of Jews, their first temple was established in Jerusalem & their origin dates back to this holy city. So the city is of most importance to the people of all the three religions. But since times immemorial there has been conflicts over the authority of this place between these religions due to religious conflicts & beliefs. The Christian’s believe that the Jews were the reason why Jesus was crucified & the Muslims believe that they have the claim to this land because of its religious importance.
Political history :
During the 19th century the Jews were persecuted & faced a lot of backlash , the Jews migrated to Palestine, then a part of the Ottoman Empire. which During the First World War , the British conquered.
In 1941 Hitler killed 6 million jews , Holocaust, the systematic state sponsored killing of six million Jewish men, women, and children and millions of others by Nazi Germany and its collaborators during World War 2 & in world war 2 the British were defeated.
So, the United Nations intervened & partitioned the country into two, one for the Jews & the other for the Muslims. But, the question was, what happens to Jerusalem? It goes under international control. Jews accepted this condition.
In 1948, Israel a new country was formed for the Jews, this did not go well with the neighbouring Arab countries. Egypt, Syria, & Jordan along with Palestine waged a war against Israel the very next day the country was formed. This is the first Arab Israel war. Jews, who were historically suppressed , fought the war with everything they had & defeated all the Arab alliance, they not just defeated but also captured all the lands from the attackers ending the first Arab Israel war. As a result of this Palestine lost all its land to the new country Israel & they became refugees in their own country.
In 1964, Palestine liberation organisation was created, which later gets recognition & forms the government of Palestine.
In 1967, the 2nd Arab Israel war happens , yet again Israel emerges victorious.
In 1973, the Arab coalition attacks Israel on the 6th of October, a day of utmost religious importance to the Jews , the yon kippur holiday . This was a surprise attack on Israel & 50 years later, history repeats.
In 1974, Israel gets into a peace treaty with Egypt & released all the lands back that it has earlier captured.
In 1993, the then Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin wanted peace & released all the lands to Palestinians to make their own country. But so far, for 25 years since all of it was under the control of Israel, a lot of Israelis settled down in these places & it was easy to distinguish these two set of people as they belonged to different ethnicities. Extremists from both the countries did not like this idea & the Israeli prime minister was assassinated.
This , later gave birth to the Palestinian Muslim led organisation : HAMAS. The Hamas hated the Israel, as-well as the PLO (Palestine liberation organisation) of their own country. The Hamas wanted to destroy Israel. This marks the sole reason to whatever is happening today. The countries across the globe recognised Hamas as a terrorist organisation.
In 2006, the Hamas defeats PLO in Palestine & wins election, which results in a civil war. So, Palestine is divided now internally.
Fast forward to 2023, it is 7th Oct , the most important day in Israel, but around 6 in the morning, the Israelis wake up to around 5000 rockets launched on them, resulting to the death of thousands of people .
Israel which has one of the strongest defence system in the world with one of the strongest air defence system could not stop this brutal attack, there was open firing, attackers landing in paragliders & bulldozing boundaries. The attackers called it “AL AQSA FLOOD” which translates to putting an end with the help of god. Israeli men & children were killed in this attack, woman were paraded naked. Israel did not sit back, they decided to attack back, they released a statement saying they would finish the war that they did not start & called it “operation iron swords”. Israel cut down electric supply to Gaza along with shutting food & water supply. It also asked the people of Gaza to relocate as they are ready to attack, thousands of people were left stranded & fled towards the borders & the neighbouring Egypt did not open doors for the immigrants. Three thousand people were killed in the counter attack. What did not go well with the world was when a hospital was bombed in Gaza, Israel denied all the accusations & even released a video stating no attack was done on a hospital, instead it was a misfiring that was done from their own hamas.

An AlJ program based on an embargo on Israel being against the law in a state in the USA. Some one who was not happy about it. It went on to a particular USA religious leader of some sort with a large congregation and then Israeli political lobbying. My recollection is that this law applies in more than one state but to be honest I just found it rather odd so didn't take a lot of notice so lets just say one state. Achieved by lobbying.
The USA Israel relationship has been questioned in the past. A common comment was that the Jewish vote in the USA is important. Religion based votes are.
Zionism - a more practical approach to a state than the orthodox view. Most variations appear to have moved to a Zionist view. How much this figures in what goes on generally - pass.
