Hi
I have a central heating system that wont come on unless i force the lever across on a new Drayton Za 5 I have just fitted.
Could it be the Honey well timer?

The system was perviously coming on then going off

by forcing the lever across its all nice and toasty now
but it would appear the timer doesnt switch it
tested the thermostat and it works

or is this a boiler issue old pottterton that was restored at great expence a while back.

Help any ideas its all wired exactly as it was and the fault
was there befote i replaced the valve hoping to fix the issue

anyone you any clues?

Thanks for your help

Not forced, but pushed across and held in place with a biro cap!

(technical stuff, but it worked on apollo 13 I believe)

The timer was replaced a few years back

Original system installed in 1994 but since then have had new valves often and a major rebuild on boiler.. plus a couple of rads a few years back..

Hence I change the valve actuator first when I get an issue, as this usually is the issue every 5-8 years or so..... and oftern cheaper than callout.

they clip off and rewire in 10 mins or so.. (take a photo fist of the wiring.!)

The last one ran out of warranty in 04, so that's not too bad I suppose.
And now has the potential not to be faulty if its the timer.

Oddly the actuator that seems tp be the issue is the hot water one
but when pushed accross the heating comes on.

The supposid "heating" actuator open and closes with the timer overide
7 day honeywell

Should the "hotwater" one open and close with the pushing of the timer overide switch, as it doesnt! (with thermostat turned to full or 30 deg)

(Thermostat normally left at 15-17 in case that matters)
was tested with a multi meter and seems to open and close fine

Could it be the Timer????

Wiring looks correct and hasnt changed since it was all working fine

Presently sitting in a warm house thanks to Mr biro!

Does anyone have any clues to me solving this mystery?
as it doesnt seem to be on any blogs and a new timer is 70 quid!

So woulld help if I dont need one having already bought a new valve for 42 quid...ah and a thermostat that didnt work so put the old one back..

Ok I have now replaced Timer and Thermostat but it's still tempromental
any other ideas?

Boiler fault?

I came on until it got to temp went off and then if you turn up thermostat to max nothing comes on again as it should do.

again if you push across the valve arm the boiler will come on and heat house

Anyone got any clues?
