Hi,

I'm plastering and part tiling a my bathroom, which was previously fully tiled. All tiles have come off, but I'm having a hell of a job removing all the grouting from the concrete.

How much of this needs to come off before plastering? I was told that I need to get the lumps out and pva it, but not sure how flat it needs to be.

Cheers,
Dylan

are back to the wall then as you mentioned concrete, so tiled directly on concrete, block wall?
So you will be using a base coat then applying finish?
It's always best to remove as much as practically possible, but providing no large peaks say 10mm and surface is sound, should be okay. But that will also depend on how level the wall is in the first place.
You'll find a steamer is good for removing tile adhesive.

Thanks, will try the steamer.
Yes, will be plastering directly concrete rendering (well, not me, the plasterer, I'm just preping).

if a plasterer is coming in, arrange with him, regarding pva, you could save them one trip by doing the first coat, as it will need to dry over night.
