Have laid quite an expensive quick lock flooring onto green tile underlay on concrete floor. It has been down about 9 months and just recently in a couple of places the floor has been rising along a couple of the joints. It is fine everywhere else. Could it have been the weather

did you leave an expansion gap along the edges

if so how have you coverd it or filled it

big all

Left a gap along all the edges and used the trim to cover it against the skirting :)

how wide is the room across the boards and
how much expansion gap did you leave

is the expansion impeded by any doorstrips or arcatrave

how did you fix down the molding with what and to what

have you heavy furniture on the edge stopping expansion

The room is open plan running from front door to patio doors approx 50' long and the width varies from 15' -7'. There is an approx 10mm gap around the edge and the beading just covers the edge of the floor. As for furniture, leather sofa's , computer desk etc, but nothing major :(

still need to know how you secured the quadrant and to what

look either side off the ridge is there anydoor strips that would stop
expansion or other floors you need about 3mm a mtr for expansion
if it goes from room to room you need expansion gaps under door strips

big all

Dont understand the 'quadrant bit'. The floor does not run under any doors it is open all the way through.

egnore quadrant ment your edging strip[beading]

did you secure the edging to the skirting and with what

The edis glued (no nails) to the skirting and it just sits onto the floor.... is that right??

thats ok but what youve got to be carfull of is

it falling down [out of sight] and blocking the expansion gap

try running something thin [a knife]between your beeding and floor
and if you cant go from one end to the other with the knife touching
the skirting theres a chance its blocked the expansion gap

did you do blobs or a ribbon

ribbon, i then tacked a small nail above the beading and into the skirting to hold it in place until it dried ( i couldn't lie on the floor looking like an octopus on speed for that long!!!!!!!!!!!!)

if you stand on the ridges do they go down move or what :!: :!:

another thought your flooring hasntcome out to far sprung up
and clipped onto youre edging

two possible causes

your floor is being pushed up by somthing underneath
or more likely your floor is trying to expand but cant

read through all the points ive said above
you havent responded to some off them if youve
tried all the above i suggest you remove the beading
on one side to see if there is or is not a gap
but give others time to give you further suggestions first

big all
