I have an old (there when moved in) Newlec Calypso shower in bathroom.

My problem is that when I turn the dial to cold water it totally stops any water coming out and when I turn to hot it is only hot when I have very low flow of water, if I turn to go any hotter and increase the flow then it becomes cold and as I live in north Scotland I'm not really up for having a cold shower in the middle of winter!

Any advice on what the problem could be? Do I need a new shower?

Thanks for reading and hope to get a reply soon...

check the hot and cold supplies are the right way round, you will need to check the installation instructions but normally its cold on the right and hot on the left as you look at the shower from the front.

Thanks for reply.

Took the front off the shower and as far as I can see there is only one pipe that goes into the shower and it worked alright before this started to happen. My guess is the heating element is KO'd and can only heat a small amount of the cold intake.

I'll just bite the bullet and get a new one installed.

Thanks again,

this is an electric shower not a mixer so will only have a cold water supply.

if you say your turn to cold and not getting a water flow
but turn the temp up go's straight to hot with no gradual increase of temp.
then i would be looking at the flow control valve faulty.
