If you paid with either a visa debit or credit card you can claim back through the issuer.
Not many people know about the chargeback facility on visa debit cards which gives you near enough the same protection as a credit card.

Can of freeze spray and a jacket, about a tenner from B&Q. They work a treat for one off jobs, freeze it then cut some isolators in and then work at your leisure.

How is wd40 going to do anything, whatever is sealing it to stop water getting out of the cylinder, is also going to stop wd40 getting into the thread.
Try heating it up and using shock treatment by whacking it hard with a hammer, also try tightening before undoing.

Both fittings are suitable for plastic, the DZR mean dezinctification thingy.
Used when water in a particular area is harmful to the alloy make up of the fitting.
