Health Secretary

This is the real problem. They get us to pay for their training then bugger off. Did they have to repay any of their training costs? Perhaps any rise needs to be tied to a contract where they have to repay a huge amount if they don't earn their keep with the NHS after training.

The rest of the world is doing very well from all the NHS training that we're all paying for.
Well to keep them pay more, they end up paying 45% of that in taxes back so who loses out?

So was this wage kept a secret from them when they decided to take up the career ?
Fair point, for a change Gas... I suspect they might have believed the lie that they might be expected to work 40-48 hours a week though, thus making the hourly rate a bit more respectable.

Steve Barclay, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, says striking doctors are risking patient safety.
Barcly's a bland passive aggressive thug towing a line, but what do you do when faced by such a huge pay claim. If we printed money for lockdown we can print money for the doctors.

Blup

So the current line is: they should all **** off to Australia and get paid better and have a less dysfunctional working environment.

Great, thanks for that.

According to doctors the working conditions have deteriorated and are continuing to deteriorate. Plus the 25% real terms pay cut over the last 15 years.

Second-born's teachers were advised the same, by their union.

...but the Tories have been doing that for years by screwing the NHS.
Nice slogan, often repeated, but not actually true. See the info further back in the thread, with links to statistics showing that the NHS is currently better funded than ever.

The NHS is a bottomless pit. However much we throw at it, they will still want more. In fact it's more like a cancerous tumour.

Doctors are spinning a lie that it's all about the greater good, more pay will mean more doctors etc etc. Perhaps they don't actually want any more money, they're doing it for the good of the world. Utter rubbish, rich people have always wanted to get richer.

1.4% average increase against a historical trend of 3.7%.

Medication bills have gone up as we are trying to keep old people alive for a long time and they're expensive.
