Ooooh, just noticed

Remember (Francis) Lord Pym ? One of maggie's 'damper' foreign secretaries, famously sacked having stated that he hoped, for the sake of democracy, there would not be a tory landslide victory at the upcoming election ... Bong.. gone !!
In recent Bliar years Maggie has complained about the dangers of landslide victories and personality cults !! Kettles and black saucepans at point blank range !!
Crazy system at times, allows a party to have a majority even if the majority of people do not support them, must be a misrepresentation of power :?:

Politics can be a total pot of s hit :D

unfortunately brussels have been hanging out the back of blair for too long..............Come back Maggie

Nice one Jasy. I was at university when Maggie came into power and I could not understand the whining reaction of many of my fellow students (who had yet to stand on their own two feet and earn a living). I also get really tee'd off when I hear kids of twenty or so today saying things like "Thatcher ruined this country." Yeah? Did she? How would you know? Are you planning on voting any time soon?

She'd have no chance today of course, because now everybody wants somebody else to be responsible for everything that happens to them and would be terrified of being told to get on their bikes. Cantbearseditis is a national disease long overdue for [harsh] treatment.

PS: Bring back the birch!! :D (Ooh, I can feel a right rant coming on now!!!)

They don't live in the REAL WORLD that is the problem, none have money worries because the lowest paid MP is on 50k plus, so the majority live in nice areas, they all get more time off than our poor teachers and they are supposed to represent us and another thing................ why is a scottish MP allowed to vote on what happens to us but an english MP cant vote on what happens up there..bring back the birch and the cane

Is this what they earn as an MP, or in their "day job"? Remember that most (if not all) MPs are moonlighters.

When I was a student I used to wonder about the Socialist Workers party society at my Uni. In my summer holidays I would spend the whole 3 months working hard, doing the kind of jobs a Socialist Worker should be: hard, manual jobs. Rubbish dumps, factories, warehouses. Yet I stayed blue. However the Socialist Whiner's party members I knew would do things like work in daddy's office for a month, then spend the rest of the holiday in the Dordogne. Then back at uni they would be whining about how they couldn't get a "gwant" anymore, and were so poor. Yet at other times would be boasting about the size of their trust funds. I was sat in a lecture next to one such guy, he continually disturbed me for the next hour showing me pictures of the yacht his father was buying him as a "gwaduation" present.

By the way, Thatcher's 79th birthday in October. :D

The thing that always bemuses me is the way the tabloid press just confuse the poor old electorate proles. The personal politics of the working man is Tory through and through (immigration, taxation, law and order, etc) and yet they seem to think they should vote Labour because one or other of the red masthead rags says so. As good a reason as any to question the validity of democracy.

I've heard, by the way, that even women are allowed to vote these days. Dear, oh dear, what is the country coming to?

I have known guys who read the SUN and all manner of other papers ... why ? because of the horse racing pages or soccer coverage ... I would say 70% of them merely scanned, certainly didn't believe the political propoganda in the rest of the rag.
Danger here for the 'media' obsessed govn ... cheap way to even more unreliable statistics !!
