It sounds like you are suggesting the purpose is to prosecute landlords rather than deport the illegals.I think this legislation is aimed at those landlords that specialise in letting houses to large numbers of illegals. As many as 30 to a house. By putting the onus on the landlord, he has to prove his innocence rather than the authorities proving his guilt.

Same with sheds with beds, the councils no-longer have to prove the landlord is housing illegals, it's for the landlord to prove that he is not.
Sounds like a useful tool to me. Maybe help get rid of some of the useless tools eh?
There was an interview with a lorry driver on the radio this morning. On his way back from France, he believed he had some unwanted guests in the back so he reported it to the French authorities. They checked the lorry over and told him that there were no illegals inside. So, he proceeded through the tunnel but still thought he had passengers. He stopped and reported it again to the British authorities who did, in fact find people inside. He was fined £600 and his two bosses were fined £1,200 each.
Perhaps that's why our government are not cracking down on the problem because they are making a f***ing lot of money out of it.
But we can't hope to rely on the Frogs. If they thought they could get away with it, they'd gladly wave them all through. They're certainly good at turning a blind eye. There was an interview with a lorry driver on the radio this morning.
