Shower pump plugged into lighting circuit

Thanks, Ban.

I think 559.5.1 should be extended with:

(x) an electronic transformer.

Why? There is no such thing. Transformers are magnetic devices, not electronic. Why encourage manufacturers who don't know what they are making?

If you don't have the book, and therefore don't know what the requirements are, how can you go around telling people what is or is not acceptable?

Common sense. Clearly not acceptable putting a potential 13 amp load on a 5 amp circuit.

But the Wiring Regulations explicitly say that you may indeed have a BS 1363 socket on a lighting circuit.

You are an utter fantasist.

The regulations say you can fit a connection unit or a 1363 socket to a lighting circuit.

Just waiting for you next smart-alec retort...

In the meantime we should suggest to the OP that he consider how much notice he should take of pronouncements made by someone who does not know what the regulations say but is nevertheless prepared to tell people that they are unacceptable.

What about "putting a potential load of 208A" (8 x double 13A sockets) on a 32A circuit? Is that not acceptable, either?

Kind Regards, John

Surely, putting a 2A socket, to which anything could be connected, on a 6A circuit is far more dangerous.
