The time has come for me to give my plate HE a thorough cleaning, so I need to get it out the boiler. I know how to remove it, however is there a way to drain the boiler without draining the entire central heating system like I did last time? When Ive had BG engineers round in the past they removed the HE without draining the rads. Its a microgenus 23 HE BTW - circa 2001.

Cheers

turn off the c/h flow & returns under the boiler as long as you are confident that they wont begin to leak.

then just drain the boiler.

Make sure you get a new set of seals. The Microgenus is good reliable boiler.

thanks for the tips guys, but once Ive isolated the boiler by turning off the flow & return valves - how do I then drain the water out via the pipe on the outside on the wall? Is there another valve in the boiler?
