1) Must have been a registered apprentice or undergone some equivalent method of training and have had practical training in electrical installation work.

2) Must have obtained an NVQ Level 3 in electrical installation work (or approved equivalent) - see Note 1

3) Must have had two years experience as an Electrician subsequent to the satisfactory completion of training and immediately prior to the application for this grade.

4) Must have demonstrated competence and obtained a suitable qualification (the City & Guilds 2391 is a suitable qualification) in the inspection, testing and commissioning of installations - see Note 2

That's if your in luck!
I phoned up for my son and while I was on asked about me.
Served a county council apprenticeship and did qualifications in college at that time (1970's).
Have C&G2381, 2382, 2391 etc. (Can't remember PAT testing numbers)
Worked in trade for 35 years
Have a degree in electrical and electronic engineering.
They wanted to give me a electricians mates card!!!!!!!
As you can imagine I told them where to go and what I thought about their silly system and joined IET instead.

I looked at it too a while back but could never get motivated to drive all the way down to Cheshire (the only place in the NW) to do the ECS exam.

I missed my original ECS exam (Preston I think it was) due to horrendous traffic on the M61 so arranged another which was held at Lymm, same place as you looked into Spark123?
It was probably the easiest assessment I've ever taken.
When applying for the card I thought it was worth asking to be graded at the same time.

It's just a conference room hired by the ECA at Poplar 2000 services off the M6 at Lymm.

Oh right - when I looked last time I was under the impression it was in Lymm itself. Saying that, Lymm isn't very far from the M6. Takes me an hour to get to the M6 J36, Durham is not much further than Lymm which is another option for the ECS exam.
