I have just bought a single light fitting as at though moment we have two ceiling fiitings in our living room but want to convert them into one central fitting. We have just discovered however, that there is not enough flex to do this. We really don't want to access the ceiling from above and thought it may be better to run a cable through the plaster instead. Any idea how to do this?

hiya thanks for your reply. Unfortunately our joists run horizontally so this would not be possible.
Thanks again

The only other way is to make holes in the ceiling at each joist & then drill through the joist to pass the cable through. Very messy! :(

Indeed that would be a very messy job.

Other options

Do nothing
Inform Mrs Pippasin that two lights at each end of the room give a better spread of light than one in the middle. Return the single light for a refund.

Truncking along the ceiling
The rewiring method of choice for many a Council flat. Not very pretty though.

The nuclear option
We really don't want to access the ceiling from above
If you wish to proceed with this project, I think you do
