Drum fills then empies straight away. The on/off button is flashing quickly along with the fourth button - mini load. Have cleaned out the pump. Any other ideas would be appreciated. Really cannot afford to call out Hotpoint.
That error code signifies motor triac fault which is a problem with the main circuit board in the bottom of the machine. It is still worth checking the motor brushes as they can sometimes give this error when worn out.
Hi we have taken out the carbon brushes, look a bit worn although we dont know how long they should be and were covered in black soot. They are both about 2cms long. Could this be the problem? Many thanks
We have taken the old carbon brushes to the shop to get replacements. The man there said they are fine!!!!!! Suggested it could be the motor. Does anyone know how much this could cost?
Don't try replacing the motor just in the hope that it rectifies the fault. There is a firm called EMW Electronics who could test and if necessary, repair your circuit board. If the fault is not on the board they should be able to advise where to look next. You can find their website and phone number if you do a Google search. If you do remove the board, be sure to do a sketch of the various plug positions, wire colours etc first.
Thanks to everyone for your help and advice but I went out today and bought a new 1 in the sales as i thought that it could turn out to be a costly business with getting it repaired. I will never have a hotpoint machine again.
