I was broken into yesterday and want to get an alarm fitted asap, I've not bought an alarm before.

I am a bit worried the companies who I find when I google have the same approach of selling as double glazing firms, or do they tend to be ok. I just want a simple, reliable system, any recommendations ?

why do people always wait till after they get broken into then want an alarm yesterday?

since you did not mention friends who have one you cant ask them, go to your local cop shop and ask for the CPO (or one of his understudies) ask them for a list of loal alarm companies in your area that they "like"

CPO is Crime Prevention Officer

where are you first of all?

do not let any alarm company know that you have been broken into! as they normally but a little extra on to the price as they know you really need an alarm! keep away from from the big companys! dont go wireless and if i was you dont go monitored! a logoed siren on the front of your property will keep the intruders away......and make sure you get an alarm fitted within 4 weeks of the break in.......
all the best.......

Why should they not go for an approved grade 2 class 6 wireless or hybrid alarm system?

there is no reason why you should not have wireless as long as its installed by either an S.S.A.I.B. or N.S.I. company.

The same with monitoring, they all have their place.

Yes they do, they shouldn't but they often give numbers and names of friends companies ect.

wireless systems are no way as good as wired, as in quility and value!

why go monitored when the old bill does not turn up?

so if this is FACT! ill go to my cpo, get a number, get an alarm fitted, get broken into again! and then take the cpo to court as i took advice of a cpo!

The value depends on the company and what they charge, we charge the same for wired or wireless.
A wireless system can be just as effective ['good' ?] as a wired system. If the system is of high quality and installed well. A wireless sstem can often be much better for some home owners then wired.

It also makes sure that a Keyholder is informed and something is more likely to be done to solve the problem.

Reset the system, secure the building etc etc while you carry on enjoying your holiday for another couple of weeks, what are you going to do from the Bahamas other than worry?

If you like.

Not every person in said position will do the same, but i have seen it happen on many occasions.

ps: are you a little simple? an alarm system doesn't stop you being broken into, it just activates when you are.
