Can someone help me with this problem, my mira shower was replaced 2 years ago. the main switch is older than that, it's at least 10 years old. The shower has suddenly stopped working. I checked the main switch and the red light doesn't come on when the switch is on. I checked the Wylex RCD box and it is on. Today I tried changing the main switch but the red light still didn't come on, anyone know where the problem is likely to be?

Do you have a multimeter and know how to use it safely?
Switch off the shower MCB on your consumer unit and have another look in the shower isolator (the large switch with the red light on). Carefully, with the power back on, check the voltage at the supply terminals to see if you have 230V as far as the isolator. If you have no voltage then you have a loose/poor connection somewhere between the CU and the isolator.
This could be damaged cable or just a screw that needs tightening. Report back with what you find.

Does the mcb feel any different to the others when you flick it on and off? They can fail completely yet still appear to be on.
Yes it does, the others when I turn on and off I can hear a click sound but the one for shower no clicking sound.

That could be it then. It could have been caused by a fault on the circuit, or dust could have got in.
