EXPLODING UNVENTED CYLINDER

The rip in the metal did not happen with a tin opener. It happened violently. Anyone with any engineering analytical skills can see that - an explosion

Its interesting that you start your postings as BigBurner and have now changed into Dr Drivel!

Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde come to mind!

Actually, you have got it wrong again!

If water below 100°C is pumped up to such a pressure that it causes a steel vessel to burst open then it is NOT violent or an explosion!

Thats why pressure tests are performed with water because its not compressible. Dont you remember when they did that with a Comet plane when you were a little younger?

An explosion is only caused when the vessel contains something compressible like air or steam or a chemical reaction between solids which create a large volume of gas.

Tony Glazier.

Now you're saying if it's not fitted properly then it's ok. One rule for vented and one unvented is it.

Do you ever read properly and get a point?

Anything will fail if it's neglected,

A vented system fitted properly and neglected will not fail catastrophically. In fact they do not require servicing - unlike unvented cylinders.

Lots of ways a plastic storage tank can get water innit hot enough to collapse.

Or don't you count getting a 100 gallons of water at 100c tipped over your head catastrophic.

Personally I think the mods/admin should completely remove such an ill informed scare mongering post, especially from the resident forum idiot

The only thing Drdrivel/BigBurner/Water systems/norcon, or whatever other name he goes under, knows about water and pressure is when he fills his incontinence pad

This is an ignorant comment and one which I wouldn't expect from a "so called" professional in the heating industry.
And no Im not part of your little list that you outline above.
If you think this person/persons requires banning then YOU equally require banning.

How many names do you want of clients with these rust buckets who do not agree with your sentiments.

DD,BB,WS

Turns out you three  have been posting the same old 5hite on any and every forum you can since at least 2005 (I bet your 5hites in caged Bird too) Its no wonder your so well liked, you've clearly got more cobblers than Northampton used to have.

Where a tank is on a flat solid base, made of plastic, but filled with near on boiling water - it will deform and collapse - spilling its contents downwards at a rapid rate of knots
You as*hole

Incorrect.
A British Standard tank will withstand boiling water, although the plastic may soften and deform. In the incident in which a child was killed a year or two back, the tank was not properly supported and collapsed. The base should be continuous and made of WBP plywood.
