Grot

the inside of my meter cupboard looks like "Bodgit & Leggit" have been to call :(

The nice gas man cometh to replace my main outside ..... While he was there he changed the meter too..... Anyways Long story short, Out from the regulator there's 1.5" of 1" copper then a sweat joint to lead piping for umm a good 15/18" then another sweat joint another 1.5" of 1" copper Then a moosin' great brass boss ...... Then its Nice Smoooooooooth 1" copper all the way to the g/f ceiling 1st floor floor spce/gap/hole/whatever

Me thinks it might be prettier if I put some of that nice flexi gas pipe on, what ya think ....... Please no chiming in that I must get a "Pro in" I've had one ..... & now I'm sorting the mess out

Will the man at the plumber merchants/gasfire/boiler/dranage shop have some of that ? ..... & what's it called ?

the "flexi gas pipe" you are enquiring about is called Tracpipe. you won`t find it in Wickes/B & Q/Homebase et al, you will only get it from a large merchant who will have to order it in. it costs a fortune, you have to be a R.G.I to touch it but hey its your funeral.

I'm sure a bit of speedfit and some pushfit fittings will do the trick, make sure it's barrier pipe though!

You cant use that.

You need to use a hose pipe ( they come in different colour too) then you can use jubilee clips on either end, ;)

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

saves having to bond it aswell

It "Was" bonded....... Gas man didn't re-connect that

Probably because the service pipe should not have been bonded in the first place.

I can see why this kind of thing occurs tho' if you morons are a fair cross section of Gas men

That is a bit rich coming from the man who connects pushfit pipe with compression fit elbows, and then asks the forum what to do about the problem. :D :D :D
And you want to do diy on your gaspipe because the pro did not clear up your mess? And that is not even considering that you have not realised that the chap working on the meter is employed and payed by the gastransporter, who is NOT responsible for improving YOUR pipe that YOU have neglected to bring up to spec because you are too stingy to pay a pro to do something you are not qualified to do.

I feel sorry for your neighbors; hope they are well insured.

The gas man brought that sweat jointed abortion out of his van, when I built this place the meters lead off line was all copper ........ [removed]
