Hi there,

I have a potentially insane amount of issues with my heating system to the point it's making me crazy. I'm not a huge DIY guy but I thought there maybe someone in the area who might be able to assist me with some diagnosis.

I have my boiler covered by a BAXI heat team so any issues on the boiler are covered by this warranty.

My issues are with pressure, TRV's balancing..etc.

What I have managed to do is relieve air pressure from the rads but still I have issues which I don't know how to resolve.

Message me if you can help me out :-)

Carl

hteng or eaton are the nearest 2 to you I think.

I'm on hols for a while then have LPG course to do, then some bathroom jobs in July. I think Eaton was looking for some work so I don't mind deferring it to him.

Eaton's contact details are in his profile just type Eaton in search then use the underlined name to get to profile.

i could do with a couple of days easy money,

at the end of the day its all about ripping off punters and peeing in your tanks!

if you have got so far as to post on this forum at least have a look at the faqs or other threads on the relevant subjects you are looking to find solutions to.

if you still cant be arse d i charge £60 per hour and we dont tell the VAT man ok dokey

tons of work seco

just felt it was a good opportunity to p iss in some english tanks and bamboozle a punter with engineering science!!!!

honestly, to come on here and post an ad for a plumber when you are already paying out cash to somebody ( heat team ) who would either do the job through the firm or offer to do it for a homer

I have been reading through the Wiki pages and FAQ's etc. Basically I know I had air in my radiators as I was hearing a slushing sound. I then released the air on the upstairs rads and the sound disappeared.
However, it seems to come back a little and like there is air coming into the system. I have checked the tanks in the loft (It's not a sealed system). and they are ok...
When it's not a sealed system how do you regulate pressure, assuming I need to. The reason I ask as even though the in pipes to each rad is hot it takes a long time for the rad to get hot at the top.
Also initially when I turn the heating/water systems it is very noisy and takes ages to settle down to quite running system.

Any thoughts?

im sorry Carl Wain im taking the Agile route on this one.

you are not an RGI you shouldnt touch anything on your system

you are not a member of snipef, napit, corgi, rac,aa, or any other associated body that Agile is a member of

so...............

i will now charge you £75 per hour plus overnight stay in your local slopshop/brothel

and it wiil take me 2 days at 10 hours per day.

OR

start a new thread asking specific questions concerning your htg/plumbing
queries and i am positive you will get evey answer you are looking for.

OR

contact heatteam and they will do all the work you require for the prices i have quoted you.

do you get it now?

Now I know why I never visit Scotland.... :x

Anyway, the Heat team only covers the boiler. I thought I made that clear. The other parts of the system are not covered hence why I made the call out for professional help.

People like yourself don't deserve the time or day so please refrain from spamming my post.

My money will certainly not land in your pocket....that you can be sure of.

Not sure what the OP has doen to upset people, on the surface it seems a fairly straightforward situation where air is being entrained presumably through the open vent. The boiler is ok so Heat team won't be interested and he is on here trying to find an engineer.

Have you got water in the small header tank?

The pipe that rises above this tank and then comes back into it is the open vent, submerge the end of this pipe in a tall glass of water and get someone else to turn the heating on is water sucked from the glass.

If the pump is on max (speed 3) try turning it down and see what happens.

Or if he's available Eaton is an excellent engineer and will see you right.

As it's open vent, it could be a partial blockage in the cold feed as per usual.

Anyway, have you contacted eaton yet?

Checks to make:

1. Check header tank (little one) if empty wobble ballcock up and down to free it.

2. Look for leaks on vacuum side of pump.

3. Check water not pumping over in the header tank. You will recognise this if it is happening. There shouldn't be any movement of water up there.

4. Check all valves open on pump etc.

These are a good start.

Eaton has my contact details and is going to call me today. Hopefully not whilst the F1 is on ;)

Last I checked (1 week ago) the small tank had a reasonable amount of water in it. I even topped it up by a a cm or two just to be safe, though I am not sure if there is a maximum level for water with this tank.

I appreciate all your responses, they have been useful.

The boiler is working correct, otherwise the heat team would have found other issues. Only recently have they replaced the PCB board which had some faulty circuitry.
