Had a customer through recommendation today. Just bought a bungalow, with vented heating system.

18 months ago, the previous owner had a new condensing boiler, cylinder and Y plan pack inc mid. pos. valve fitted.

The new owner wants me to rip all of this out, because they don't like paying to store hot water they might not use. So I am ripping out a perfectly good system, but they want to leave the approx. 15 year old pipes and rads in. They want a combi instead. Mad!

P.S. If anyone wants a heat only boiler thats just 'run in', let me know! ;)

isn't that theft? the boiler belongs to the customers.. unless the have given you permission to dispose of it you have no right to take it off the premises..

who knows as you dont know what the customer has siad or what he priced for

Yes mate, in the strange parallel universe that you inhabit, it probably does count as 'grand theft boiler'! ;)

I'm having a similar one with my OH's father... he's been persuaded that he should have his mixer shower ripped out and replaced with an electric one, despite the fact that the heating is on pretty much every day (he has blood circulation problems and arthritis) and he has a heavily-lagged cylinder of hot water ready to go at all times. Downstairs bathroom so no pressure or flow problems.

Lots of work for the fitter (new wiring and some replumbing), lots of unnecessary expense for the in-laws.

It sounds like his friend down the pub has told him that electric showers are "cheaper" and therefore he will save money... I've given up!
