I am one of only two people in my cul-de-sac who have a front garden which is covered in grass and when I moved in, about year ago now, I soon found out why. It’s a toilet for every damn dog and cat in the road.
The perpetrators, (or rather their owners), are elusive, irresponsible and/or clueless!
but like so many things in life, sometimes you just have to admit defeat.
As a result, nearly everyone has concreted over their front garden long ago or, in one case, used shale.
Now I have read recently that everyone is concreting over their frontages and that it’s bad to do this because you need to let the rainwater through into the ground below. (Can't remember why now). So I don’t want to concrete it over and besides, I’d like something more natural if at all possible.
For a while, in a vain attempt to hang-onto my lawn, my friend suggested I use a diluted solution of Jeyes Fluid. Now this did actually work until the rain washes it away, something this country is not short of,
and I don’t want to keep spending money on what is quite an expensive product. So unfortunately, after dying the death of a thousand turds, I have given up!
I have bought some 'Ground Control' woven stuff, which blocks sunlight but allows water through, in preparation for digging up the lawn but that’s where I’m stuck... I was thinking of covering it in a layer of nice stones with perhaps a nice feature rockery but I know that doesn’t deter the poopers' either.
Does anyone have anything at all I could use or do which would both look nice and deter our four legged friends? (BTW those noise emitting motion sensor things are a complete joke
so don’t waste your money).
